Résumé
Ancient cave in Germany
Hohle Fels cave is located in southern Germany and has been studied by archaeologists since 1870.
The site contains artifacts dating back 43,000 years, including some of the earliest examples of figurative art and musical instruments ever found.
These discoveries suggest that Ice Age humans had complex cultures, complete with myths, beliefs, and rituals, much like modern societies.
The cave’s excavation leader, Nicholas Conard, highlights these findings in a video produced by Nature and presented by Dan Fox.
The cave’s artifacts provide insight into how these early humans may have developed advanced symbolic thinking, which could have given them an evolutionary advantage over other hominins, such as Neanderthals.
