Green tree ants are famous in the tropics

Green tree ants (Oecophylla smaragdina) are a species of ants found abundantly in tropical forests across a wide geographic range, from India to northern Australia.

These ants are known for their bright green color and their unique nesting behavior, where they weave leaves together using silk produced by their larvae to create their homes.

Their success in these ecosystems has made them a dominant species, and their reputation as fierce fighters adds to their influence.

The article highlights how their long-standing dominance in tropical regions has led to evolutionary adaptations in other species, which mimic the ants to either avoid predation or exploit them for food.
